James Field (b. in Leeds, based in Manchester) is a drummer, percussionist and performer. His experiences as an accompanist and collaborator have led him to explore both a traditional and experimental approach to the drum kit.
James has been involved in many diverse musical projects, some of which have incorporated choreographed performance and movement, improvisation in response to film and dance and the use of programming and electronics.
James has most recently performed in a theatre adaptation of Brighton Rock in association with Pilot Theatre and York Theatre Royal. He has also performed and worked with Farao, The Magnetic North, The Irrepressibles, Hannah Peel, Anna Calvi, Jordan Hunt, Principle Six, Rhodes, Erland & The Carnival, Woman's Hour, Summer Camp, Joey Aris, Grammatics, Aughra and Ben Playford Trio.
James studied at Thames Valley University, Drumtech and Goldsmiths University.
